It was a grandeur display of strength and the beautiful cultural heritage of Ndigbo yesterday at the Agbaja Abatete Civic Centre, where I led my Obinwanne Age Grade in a resplendent dance as we unveiled our ‘Ịgba Ike’ dance to Abatete Community.
The rechoing sound of the gong, the fast beat of the drums and the enchanting tunes of the flutes were powerful enough to reverberate the energetic spirit in me as I marched undaunted, swinging to the beautiful tunes of the instrument to the admiration of the audience who cheered all the way.
Age Grade is an age long tradition of Ndigbo that breeds unity and association of persons of the same age bracket. It is used in the Igbo culture to champion causes for the social, political, cultural and infrastructural development of communities. I am an ardent lover of culture and I never cease to Identify with my Obinwanne Age Grade in all her activities.
