During my campaigns in 2019, I made a promise to His Royal Majesty Igwe Iweka III of Obosi, and the entire Obosi people that one of the first road projects I will attract to Idemili during my stay at the 9th National Assembly would be the Iweka Road, leading to the Igwe’s Palace in Obosi.
Today, January 8, 2020, I was very glad as I took an inspection tour of the construction which began today on Iweka Road, Obosi. The road project is part of the dividends from my five momentous months stay at the 9th National Assembly.
The road project which is domiciled under the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) will be in three phases and by God’s grace I was able to lobby for its inclusion in the 2019 budget at the tune of N50 million.
I am gratified at the commencement of this project as it once again proves the fact that we set out on a mission to make a difference by providing effective and quality representation for Ụmụ Idemili, while ensuring that our promises to Ụmụ Idemili are fulfilled.
In a very special way, I appreciate my dear friend, Hon. Chris Azubuogu, who was the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation in the 8th Assembly, for his sincere efforts in ensuring that this road project was included in the 2019 budget of the federation.
In good faith, I urge Hon. Obinna Chidoka, and Distinguished Sen. Uche Ekwunife, Representatives of Idemili at the 9th House of Representatives and Senate respectively to ensure that this project which has commenced today is completed by allocating funds for its completion in the 2021 budget.
Rev. Zeus Mozie, who spoke on behalf of Igwe Iweka III, said “I am overwhelmed. This is a very good example of sportsmanship in politics, and I give you every commendation. I hope others would follow with time. It will be politics without bitterness, and for this you will be remembered. I am sure that Igwe would be delighted wherever he is now, because you have come to show us that you are a true son of Idemili. Notwithstanding that you are no longer presently in the House of Representatives, you made good your promises. It is something that has never happened before this time, so you are a trailblazer”.
I once again reiterate my commitment to ensuring a greater and better Idemil. My stay at the 9th National Assembly may have been short lived but Ụmụ Idemili will continue to reap the fruits of the five months of effective representation we had at the National Assembly.
